Sony K98XR50 VESA pattern and wall-mount specs
The Sony K98XR50 — the 98-inch BRAVIA 5 — uses a 600 x 400 mm VESA pattern and weighs 152.1 lb (69 kg) without its stand, according to Sony's product page. Any wall mount whose range covers 600 x 400 and is rated for at least 152.1 lb will hold it.
Mount checklist for the K98XR50
- Pattern: 600 mm wide by 400 mm high (23.6 x 15.7 in). On a mount's box, both numbers must sit inside its range — "up to 400 x 400" fits smaller TVs, but not this one.
- Standard: a rectangular pattern outside the square Part F table, which is normal for current TVs; screws are usually M6 or M8 at this size, but the manual is the authority.
- Weight: 152.1 lb without the stand. Mounts are rated by maximum load; a mount rated 160 lb or more leaves no doubt, and full-motion arms should have more margin than fixed plates because the load sits further from the wall.
- Screws: use the screw length and any spacers the Sony manual specifies. Too long can damage the panel; too short strips the insert.
- Wall: fix the mount to studs or masonry with the hardware the mount maker supplies for that wall type.
What that means when you shop
600 x 400 mm needs a mount sold for large TVs; compact and "up to 400 x 400" mounts will not reach the holes. Large fixed and tilting mounts usually cover it, and most heavy-duty full-motion arms do. At 152.1 lb this is a very heavy set: it needs a heavy-duty mount, fixings into studs or masonry, and three people or a professional installer to lift it safely.
Closest in weight among other brands' 98-inch TVs: Samsung Neo QLED QN990F (149.9 lb, 600 x 400 mm); Samsung The Frame LS03HE (124.3 lb, 600 x 400 mm); TCL QM8K (121.2 lb, 600 x 500 mm). 2 of them share this TV's pattern.
Sony's other 98-inch models here — BRAVIA 7 II (600 x 400 mm, 137.1 lb) — all share its pattern, so the mount question is only about weight.
Among Sony's 46 models here, 3 use 600 x 400 mm (8%); Sony's most common pattern is 300 x 300 mm. It is a 2025 model still listed by Sony.
Other sizes in the Sony BRAVIA 5 line
The pattern is not the same across the line: it changes from 300 x 300 mm on the 75" to 400 x 400 mm on the 85", and it changes from 400 x 400 mm on the 85" to 600 x 400 mm on the 98". A mount bought for one size is not automatically right for another.

Where to sit
A 98-inch 16:9 screen is 85.4 in wide and 48 in tall. It fills the SMPTE 30° view from 13 ft 3 in and THX's 40° cinema view from 9 ft 9 in. At this size 4K looks sharper than 1080p only from 12 ft 9 in or closer; beyond that, 20/20 eyes cannot tell the two apart. The 98-inch size page has the full table and every model at this size.
