VESA mount patterns

The VESA pattern is the spacing of the four threaded holes on the back of a TV, in millimetres, width first. It is set by the VESA Mounting Interface Standard (MIS, formerly FDMI), and it is the one number a wall mount must match.

What the standard says

Many current TVs use rectangular patterns such as 300 x 200, 400 x 300 and 600 x 400 mm, outside the square Part F table. Wall mounts are sold by the range of patterns they fit, so what matters is that both the width and the height of your TV's pattern fall inside the mount's range. That is visible in the table: 77 of the TVs listed use 300 x 200, 400 x 300 or 600 x 400.
