Sony XR65A95L VESA pattern and wall-mount specs
Sony lists this model as VESA compatible but does not publish the hole pattern on its product page. It weighs 51.6 lb (23.4 kg) without its stand. Check the manual or measure the holes before buying a mount.
Mount checklist for the XR65A95L
- Weight: 51.6 lb without the stand. Mounts are rated by maximum load; a mount rated 60 lb or more leaves no doubt, and full-motion arms should have more margin than fixed plates because the load sits further from the wall.
- Screws: use the screw length and any spacers the Sony manual specifies. Too long can damage the panel; too short strips the insert.
- Wall: fix the mount to studs or masonry with the hardware the mount maker supplies for that wall type.
What that means when you shop
Without a published pattern, the mount choice starts with measuring the TV (below). At 51.6 lb it is a heavy set: plan a two-person lift, fix the mount into at least two studs or into masonry, and pick a mount whose rating leaves clear margin.
Closest in weight among other brands' 65-inch TVs: LG G4 OLED evo (52.5 lb, Not published); LG QNED82A (50.3 lb, 300 x 200 mm); LG QNED evo QNED85A (49.6 lb, 300 x 300 mm).
Sony's other 65-inch models here — BRAVIA 2 II (300 x 300 mm, 43.4 lb), BRAVIA 3 II (300 x 300 mm, 45.9 lb), BRAVIA 5 (300 x 300 mm, 54.9 lb), BRAVIA 6 OLED (400 x 200 mm, 38.2 lb) — use a mix of patterns, so check the exact model before buying a mount.
Among Sony's 46 models here, this is one of the few without a published pattern. Sony's page doesn't state the model year.
How to find the pattern on this TV yourself
- Lay the TV face down on a soft, flat surface, or measure it while it stands.
- Find the four threaded inserts on the back panel.
- Measure centre to centre between the two top holes in millimetres: that is the first number. Then top to bottom on one side: the second.
- Compare with standard patterns (100 x 100, 200 x 200, 200 x 300, 300 x 200, 400 x 200, 300 x 300, 400 x 300, 400 x 400…). A reading within a few millimetres of one of them is that pattern.
- Note the screw thread from the manual, or test-fit an M6 then M8 screw by hand — never force a screw.

Where to sit
A 65-inch 16:9 screen is 56.7 in wide and 31.9 in tall. It fills the SMPTE 30° view from 8 ft 10 in and THX's 40° cinema view from 6 ft 6 in. At this size 4K looks sharper than 1080p only from 8 ft 5 in or closer; beyond that, 20/20 eyes cannot tell the two apart. The 65-inch size page has the full table and every model at this size.
