Mount checklist for the 85A300W
- Weight: 94.8 lb without the stand. Mounts are rated by maximum load; a mount rated 100 lb or more leaves no doubt, and full-motion arms should have more margin than fixed plates because the load sits further from the wall.
- Screws: use the screw length and any spacers the TCL manual specifies. Too long can damage the panel; too short strips the insert.
- Wall: fix the mount to studs or masonry with the hardware the mount maker supplies for that wall type.
Body size: 74.72 x 42.99 x 1.26 in
TCL lists the 85A300W at 74.72 in wide, 42.99 in tall and 1.26 in deep without its stand (190 x 109 cm), and 74.72 x 43.39 x 13.7 in on its stand — the stand adds 0.4 in of height and needs a surface 13.7 in deep. On the wall it stands out 1.26 in plus the mount's own profile. Compare it with every other 85-inch body on the above-a-fireplace and TV-cabinet pages.
What that means when you shop
Without a published pattern, the mount choice starts with measuring the TV (below). At 94.8 lb this is a very heavy set: it needs a heavy-duty mount, fixings into studs or masonry, and three people or a professional installer to lift it safely.
Closest in weight among other brands' 85-inch TVs: Samsung The Frame Pro LS03HW (90.9 lb, 600 x 400 mm); Samsung The Frame LS03HE (90.4 lb, 600 x 400 mm); Samsung Neo QLED QN1EH (89.3 lb, 600 x 400 mm).
TCL's other 85-inch models here — QM6K (600 x 400 mm, 71.8 lb), QM7K (600 x 400 mm, 75.2 lb), QM8K (600 x 500 mm, 85.8 lb), QM7L (600 x 400 mm, 72 lb) — all use a different pattern, so check the exact model before buying a mount.
Among TCL's 46 models here, this is one of the few without a published pattern. TCL's page doesn't state the model year.
How to find the pattern on this TV yourself
- Lay the TV face down on a soft, flat surface, or measure it while it stands.
- Find the four threaded inserts on the back panel.
- Measure centre to centre between the two top holes in millimetres: that is the first number. Then top to bottom on one side: the second.
- Compare with standard patterns (100 x 100, 100 x 200, 200 x 100, 200 x 200, 200 x 300, 300 x 200, 400 x 200, 300 x 300…). A reading within a few millimetres of one of them is that pattern.
- Note the screw thread from the manual, or test-fit an M6 then M8 screw by hand — never force a screw.

Where to sit
A 85-inch 16:9 screen is 74.1 in wide and 41.7 in tall. It fills the SMPTE 30° view from 11 ft 6 in and THX's 40° cinema view from 8 ft 6 in. At this size 4K looks sharper than 1080p only from 11 ft 1 in or closer; beyond that, 20/20 eyes cannot tell the two apart. The 85-inch size page has the full table and every model at this size.
