Where it sits in the VESA standard

500 x 600 is a rectangular pattern. The standard's large-display table (Part F) lists square patterns from 200 to 1000 mm, but TV makers commonly use rectangles like this one, and wall mounts are sold by the range of patterns they accept, so it mounts like any other pattern of its size. At this size the screws are usually M6 or M8 — the TV's manual is the authority. It is the number 16 of 16 patterns among the TVs listed here.

What kind of TV uses 500 x 600

500 x 600 is a large-TV pattern for 75-inch-plus sets. It needs a mount sold for large screens, and the TVs that use it are heavy — the heaviest here is 120.2 lb — so fix the mount to studs or masonry and plan the lift.

Series using it: TCL Q651G.

A portrait pattern: holes further apart up and down

VESA figures are written width first, so 500 x 600 puts the holes 600 mm apart vertically and only 500 mm apart across. That is the less common way round: of the 16 patterns in use on this site, most are as wide as or wider than they are tall. On a typical wall plate the TV hangs from two vertical arms, and it is the arms' slot length that has to reach 600 mm; check the mount's largest height, not just its headline size, because many mounts stop at 400 mm tall.

Not the same as 600 x 500. 7 TVs here use the same two numbers the other way round — 600 x 500, wider than tall (TCL 98QM6K, TCL 98QM7K, TCL 85QM8K). This one, 500 x 600, is turned on its side. A mount whose range covers both 500 and 600 in each direction takes either, but one rated "up to 500 x 600" does not automatically take 600 x 500.

Which mounts fit 500 x 600

A mount fits when the TV's pattern width and height both fall inside the mount's published range. For this pattern, the mount's largest pattern must be at least 500 wide and 600 tall, and its smallest no bigger than 500 x 600. A mount sold as "up to 700 x 600" covers it; one listed "up to 400 x 600" does not. Weight matters as much as the holes: the heaviest TV here with this pattern weighs 120.2 lb, so a mount rated below that will not do for it.

A mount that fits 500 x 600 usually also fits the smaller patterns inside it: 100 x 100, 100 x 200, 200 x 100, 200 x 200, 200 x 300, 300 x 200, 400 x 200, 300 x 300, 400 x 300, 300 x 500, 400 x 400 — as long as its minimum allows.
